The Lebanese city of Tripoli has been the scene of heavy clashes between rival factions ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
On Tuesday, supporters of the al-Mostaqbal party -- led by the son of the late prime minister Rafik Hariri -- clashed with pro-opposition forces in the al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen neighborhoods in Tripoli, north of the capital Beirut.
Lebanese security sources said the Lebanese army has been deployed to the area and is trying to restore peace in the districts.
Medics and hospital sources also confirmed having received a number of injured people, but did not give more details on the number or identity of the wounded.
